New posts to come.

Many years ago I stopped posting to my blog. The main reason was because I had some people that I did not want knowing about my personal life. Facebook solved a lot of those problems as my profile is private and I am able to limit who sees what I post.
I won't be posting many personal pictures in the future. I use Instagram to do that now days. I hope to be posting about family history and documenting some of the journey's that I will taking with the research. I am not a writer so this will not be an exciting read. I hope my family will find it useful to keep up with what I am doing in the area of family history research. I have ambitions of including my children and grandchildren in on the wonderful adventures. Wish me luck!

Just to catch up:
We had 2 grandchildren when I stopped posting. We now have 6 (with one on the way due in December) and 4 wonderful (step) additions from Kendra's remarriage. Kendra and Michael sadly divorced. We have had to adjust to this change and it has been hard on all of us. Kendra is happily remarried and now lives in Virginia with her husband and now 5 children. Joshua is 6 and is doing really well. He lives with her full time and gets to come visit often and we visit him.
Michael lives just down the street from us.
Allie married a great guy and lives in Virginia (not far from Kendra). She is the proud mother of 2 darling children.
Heather and Ben live 1.3 miles from us and she is due with her 4th child.

2 days old

Here are the newest pictures of our cute new grandson. He is so sweet and has that wonderful baby smell. Kendra and Michael came home from the hospital today. We went to Trey and Karen’s house to have dinner and welcome them home. They are very sleep deprived. Karen and Trey are on baby duty tonight, hopefully that will give the new parents time to rest.

 

Joshua Michael Brunetti

After a long labor and many hours of waiting. Joshua was born at 6:37pm Nov 13th, 2009. He weighed 8lbs 7ozs and is 20.5 inches. Mom and baby are doing well. Kendra is very tired and can’t wait to be home. Daddy is very excited and loves his new “toy”. Grandma and Grandpa Dean are happy to be grandparents for the first time. Nanna and Papa Brunetti are so thrilled to be grandparents again. One boy and one girl. Who will be the tie breaker? Heather??

They will come home on Sunday and Carlie can’t wait to meet her new cousin. She has seen the pictures of him on Nanna’s camera and wants to give him kisses. His Aunt Allie will be home on the 25th to meet him in person.

Our new Grandson will be born tomorrow

We are off to the hospital first thing in the morning. Kendra will be induced. She is 41 weeks and really ready to have this baby.

Maple tree update

The leaves are out on the Maple tree. Now I can't see my neighboors. HeHe!! Love that!

Deacon's Bench redo

Barbi reminded me last night that I haven't posted on my blog for awhile. So, I thought I would show you what I did a couple of weekends ago

This is my Deacons bench before the fabric redo. I forgot to take a picture of it before I painted it. Imagine a golden oak color before.

And here is the after. I recovered the seat in a beige fabric and added a couple of buttons. I used my staple gun, my little pry bar, and Ray drilled two holes in the wood so I could add the buttons.

My Maple Tree

Yesterday morning there were no buds on this tree. When I looked in the afternoon they were starting to come out. I love this maple tree it provides shade on our patio during the summer and blocks the view to our back neighbors.

Easter lasted 2 weeks at our house.

We spent the day before Easter at the Goodrich's, they treated us to some yummy burgers. We brought the traditional "Bunny Cake"..

This weekend we celebrated with Michael, Kendra, Heather, Ben and Carlie. We had our traditional Ham and funeral potatoes, green beans and rolls. We didn't do much, went to church on Sunday. Enjoyed the weather and and each other's company.

Altar Cloth is finished

I turned the altar cloth into the stake on Monday. I have estimated that it took me about 2000 hours. It was a big project, I am glad to have it done. I look forward to seeing it in a sealing room in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. It was a great privilege to be able to contribute something that will be used in the temple.

edit: I found out today (4/21) that they placed my altar cloth in sealing room #4 on the south side of the temple. Make sure and visit the temple open house.

Allie and Mom's Cross Country Trip

Just a few pictures of the trip to Virginia.

I went to the old part of Leesburg to do some antique shopping. Everything closes at 5pm so I didn't get a chance to do alot of shopping.

At the American History museum (part of the Smithsonian) they had the original flag on display. The one Francis Scott Key wrote about. It was in complete darkness, no flash photography. I hoped that my camera would catch it, it took several tries but I got this shot. Pretty good, although you can't see the writing. It is the "star spangled banner".

I love this picture, it really looks like they are just shadows. This is a bronze statue of the Prophet and his brother Hyrum. It is directly in front of the temple.



Another view of the temple. What a great spirit that is so evident on the temple grounds. It brought me to tears.

We are going to be grandparents again!

Yes, it is true! Kendra and Michael are expecting. After the miscarriage in January they got pregnant right away. The baby is due on November 5th. We are super excited.

I have been so bad about not blogging.

I am posting some of the pictures of our trip to Virginia. I know that I need to add more details later. But for now I knew I had time to get these done.

Altar Cloth for the Oquirrh Mountain Temple

This is a picture of a beautiful sealing room in the Draper Temple. The altar in the middle will have a cloth over it to keep it from getting worn and dirty. This is where families are sealed for eternity.

I have been diligently working on an altar cloth. The due date is somewhere between April 1st and May 1st. It has not been officially told to us. I was given very vague instructions on how to make it. My friend Teri is making one too. She and I had many questions about how to make them. I asked the matron at the Jordan River temple and the ladies that work with the alter clothes some questions we had which made it clearer what was expected. After picking a pattern and mapping it out on graph paper, I got right to work on it. I need to do 10 motifs a week to finish near to the dates that it is expected. Many talented women make these to cover the padding over the alters of the temples. Now that I have experienced the long hours that it takes to make one, I will be paying closer attention to them and appreciating them more.

I work anywhere from an hour to 5 hours a day on it to get it finished by those dates. The 30+ hour car ride to VA will give me plenty of time to catch up on some of it. I am using a size 10 needle and size 20 crochet cotton. It is very small stitching and my hands have been bothering me a little, so I took a little break for a couple of days. I am honored to be able to use my crochet talents to make this. I hope many families will sealed over it.

Driving Cross Country

Allie and I are getting ready to drive to Virginia where she is going to be a nanny for a year. I am trying to set up my blog so I can post from the road. So this is a test to see if it works.

Sweet Valentines Treats

For my darling children I made these cute candy wrappers to dress up giant Hersey bars. I used an Ali Edwards download from Designer Digitals.

We stayed in today because it was snowing. We had heart shapped pizzas. Heather whipped up some sugar cookies and made miniture fruit pizzas with them.

It was a fun family holiday. The family played with the Wii and I crocheted on the Alter Cloth.

Oh no, my camera has died

I have loved using my Canon PowerShot S2Is. I would post a picture of it but, it keeps sending me an E18 message and shutting down. You can see it here: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canons2is/
So, I called Canon and they are sending me a refurbished Rebel XT, see here:

for about the same amount that it would cost me to repair this one. It comes with everything a new one does, and a 6 month warranty on parts and labor.
I will miss the video recorder on my old camera, that was really handy, and it is smaller.
I have always wanted a Rebel, I had a film Rebel years ago. It took marvelous pictures and I have really missed it for portraits and family pictures. It is rather heavy to use as a daily camera and not one you can easily put in your purse and carry around. I am glad to get it though. It will be a learning curve adventure as I learn to use it. I already have two lens and they are sending me another, yea!! That makes it a little easier to say goodbye to my old one.

We are so thrilled to be involved in all the activities that will be happening during the open house and dedication.

I have been working on an alter cloth for the new temple. I need to be finished by April 1st which means I need to really be dedicated to getting it finished. I will post some pictures of it as I get a little further along.

It is so wonderful to have a Temple in our backyard. It will bring many blessings to our area and our family. We won't have any excuses now! It is so close and convenient for our use to bless others with our service.

Sad News

I haven't felt like posting to my blog since last week. Kendra had a miscarriage a week ago last Saturday. She had to have a D&C on Thursday. Her Mom and I went to Logan to be with her and Michael. It has been a very sad time for our family. We were so looking forward to a new sweet baby in August.
Kendra is doing well and has returned to class, she missed her kids.
We look forward to hearing news of a new pregnancy sometime this year.
We are hoping that Heather and Kendra will be pregnant together.

I need to "Finish" some things. It is really bugging me lately that I am not completing things that I start.
